Qualifications

  • J-STD-001 and IPC/WHMA-A-620 certifications are beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Route, wire, assemble and install components in ruggedized enclosures per specs.
  • Cut wires to specified lengths and insulate ends.
  • Crimp terminals and lugs to wires using hand or machine tools.
  • Route and attach wires to terminals per jig board layout and solder when needed.
  • Connect wiring to relays, breakers, plugs and switches; install accessories.
  • Perform continuity, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and functional tests.
  • Assemble components to final product using drawings, fixtures and tools.
  • Read work orders, blueprints, and specs to determine assembly methods.
  • Stage inspections and report quality issues; support team as needed.

Job description

**Electrical Assembler**Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, the Electrical Assembler is responsible for performing a wide range of assembly and integration tasks related to the production of ruggedized electrical and electronic enclosures, sub-assemblies, and integrated systems. This position facilitates and supports the end-to-end process of production, assembly, wiring, and testing of electrical components using appropriate tools, fixtures, and test equipment, in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and AS9100 quality standards.Working collaboratively across levels, the Electrical Assemblers ensure product quality, efficiency, and consistency throughout the production process. The Lead and Senior Assemblers provide guidance and training to peers and associates, verify work quality, and ensure compliance with MIL standards and customer requirements. Staff and Associate Assemblers support fabrication, wiring, and final assembly stages, contributing to overall team productivity and maintaining compliance with safety, documentation, and inspection procedures.This combined role ensures that all assembly activities, ranging from component preparation to system-level integration, are executed safely, accurately, and efficiently to meet production schedules and company performances goals.**Location: New London, CT****hourly rate: $23.00 - $28.00***Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in Connecticut. Cut plastic sleeves and slip sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections. Crimp terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping devices.* Route, comb, twist, wrap, tie, and attach wire to terminal points, according to jig board layout, using soldering gun and hand tools. Connect wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and install accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools.* Conduct continuity, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and operational tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments.* Assemble components to a final configured product utilizing process and drawing instructions and blueprints and specialized tooling and fixtures, measuring equipment and hand tools.* Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine established assembly methods.* Work as an individual or in a team environment.* Stage inspection of product at required intervals to verify accuracy of work. May perform final inspection and release paperwork prior to delivery to the customer. Report any quality control issues to the supervisor.* Other duties, responsibilities, and projects may be assigned from time to time.* Use measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, digital multimeters, and automated cable testers.* Ability to read electrical schematics and understand assembly electrical codes.* Basic computer navigation and utilization skills to access production documents.* Mathematical skills including fractions and decimals.* Connect wiring to accessories such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and solenoids using hand tools.* Conduct functional and continuity tests of electrical assemblies, components, and plugs using appropriate instruments.* Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.* Experience leading or training employees in an assembly or manufacturing environment.* Ability to monitor workflow and allocate tasks effectively among team members.* Ensure compliance with company quality, safety, and operational procedures.* Effective communication skills and ability to foster teamwork and accountability.* Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in a production environment.**What You Bring*** High School Diploma or GED (required) A Technical Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is an added advantage.* An AS Degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering from an accredited University (bonus).* J-STD-001 Certification (bonus)* IPC/WHMA-A-620 Certification (bonus)* Experience conducting IPC training and certifications (bonus)* Technical Capacity* Learning Orientation* Time Management* ThoroughnessWork is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise, moving mechanical parts, and occasional vibration.**PPE Requirements**This role requires the use of ESD/Safety shoes.
