Job summary

IEWC in Wisconsin is hiring experienced electrical assemblers to build and wire custom control panels from prints and schematics. You will interpret wiring diagrams, select hardware, and mount components, contributing to high-quality, repeatable assemblies from day one.

Qualifications

  • Two or more years experience in electrical assembly or related electrical field.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand for 8 hours a day.
  • Ability to learn and follow quality procedures, including ISO9001:2008 requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Build and wire custom electrical control panels from prints, schematics, and wire lists
  • Lay out and mount components; perform drilling and mechanical fabrication
  • Wire panel devices according to provided electrical schematics
  • Route and bundle wires and cables neatly and according to established electrical standards
  • Perform manual crimping using approved tools for terminals, ferrules, and lug sizes
  • Check work to ensure error-free products
  • Maintain red-lines of any changes made during manufacturing and submit to supervisor upon project completion
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Occasionally support employee development and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Independently build standard panels from prints and schematics
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and panel layouts with minimal clarification
  • Perform drilling and mechanical fabrication for component mounting
  • Select proper hardware, drill sizes, and mounting methods
  • Hand-wire panels directly from schematics, not from wire labels alone
  • Validate wire routing, separation, and termination quality
  • Apply workmanship standards consistently for routing, labeling, torque, and cleanliness
  • Produce repeatable, QC-ready panels without reliance on rework
  • Build complex and high-risk panels independently
  • Interpret multiple drawing styles, revisions, notes, and customer requirements
  • Plan and verify all mechanical layout and drilling decisions
  • Define wiring strategy and build sequencing
  • Troubleshoot wiring, layout, and integration issues
  • Interface effectively with Engineering, QC, and Test
  • Understand UL 508A principles as they apply to assembly
  • Identify potential design or workmanship risks and eliminate appropriately
  • Simplify and optimize builds for repeatability and efficiency
  • Lead or coordinate builds involving multiple assemblers
  • Set workmanship expectations and mentor others
  • Consistently deliver panels with minimal or no QC findings

We're hiring at two experience levels. Candidates will be placed based on demonstrated capability.

What You'll Do

Experience Levels
Level B — Independent Assembler
  • Independently build standard panels from prints and schematics
  • Interpret wiring diagrams and panel layouts with minimal clarification
  • Perform drilling and mechanical fabrication for component mounting
  • Select proper hardware, drill sizes, and mounting methods
  • Hand-wire panels directly from schematics, not from wire labels alone
  • Perform manual crimping using approved tools for terminals, ferrules, and common lug sizes
  • Validate wire routing, separation, and termination quality

Level A — Senior/Lead Assembler

A-level capability is defined by ownership, foresight, and leadership rather than technical skill alone.

All B-level Capabilities, Plus
  • Build complex and high-risk panels independently
  • Interpret multiple drawing styles, revisions, notes, and customer requirements
  • Plan and verify all mechanical layout and drilling decisions
  • Define wiring strategy and build sequencing
  • Troubleshoot wiring, layout, and integration issues
  • Interface effectively with Engineering, QC, and Test
  • Understand UL 508A principles as they apply to assembly
