Job summary

A/Z Corporation is seeking an Apprentice Electrician to assist a Licensed Electrician with installation, maintenance and inspection of electrical systems at GMP and office environments. You will follow blueprints, install conduit, and connect equipment.

Requires 3 years of field experience or completion of trade school or apprenticeship, OSHA 10, and a valid state certification or license. You will work safely and document work while collaborating with a team.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follow blueprints.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
• Oversees or participates in wire installation with conduit and cable trays.
• Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels.
• Tests continuity of circuits and ensures safety and compatibility of components.
• Maintain safety and quality; complete as found/as left documentation; support site housekeeping.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:The Apprentice will assist a Licensed Electrician with the installation or maintenance and inspection of electrical systems and associated processes.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Regular attendance at assigned location; may include A/Z office or other project site;Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows blueprints, insuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring;Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit, using such tools as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender;Oversees or participates in wire installation with conduit and cable trays;Installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels, fastening in place with screws or bolts, using hand tools and power tools;Connects power cables to equipment, such as motor, and installs grounding leads;Test continuity of circuit to insure electrical compatibility and safety of components, using testing instruments, such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope;Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement;Perform other routine duties as directed by workplace leader, electrical panels, and standby generation;Avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes, redlining drawings, complete documentation with as found and as left conditions;Must maintain strict adherence to safety rules and quality;Participate in site housekeeping;Interact with co-workers in an attentive courteous mannerAdditional duties as directed by management.SKILLS & EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:Ability to work independently or as part of a team;Experience: 3 years of Field Experience, trade school or apprenticeship;Be highly focused on customer satisfaction expectations;Good documentation and record keeping;Preparation of miscellaneous paperwork including time sheets, daily reports and material requests;Understanding of and strict adherence to daily Job Hazard Analysis (JHA);Appropriate state certification or license;OSHA 10 certification.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
