Job description

Smith & Loveless is united under one cause: “Protecting Water. Protecting People.” We are seeking Electrical Application Engineer / Project Coordinator to partner with our experienced Municipal Application Engineering team in this environmentally focused industry.

An Electrical Application Engineer / Project Coordinator at Smith and Loveless is responsible for preparing timely and accurate engineering orders to specifications and to satisfy the customer needs. The candidate will be responsible for managing multiple projects at a time from award of contractor through fabrication completion. With the electrical background, the candidate will be able to support other project coordinators with interpretation of electrical specifications and electrical drawings, to ensure a proper interpretation of what the customer is expecting in the final product. The candidate will be required to read and interpret engineering drawings, process and communicate needed changes with the customer, with engineering consultants, and internal engineers. The candidate will identify any potential issues and work to resolve them both for production and the customer.

Job Duties
  • Assist colleagues in properly interpreting the electrical wiring diagrams, P&IDs and electrical specifications of manufactured products.
  • Process all aspects of a job, from order entry, MRP entry, OE&I’s and all other required paperwork to process the job.
  • Maintain a friendly attitude toward both internal and external customers.
  • Build collaborative and trusting relationships with customers, sales reps, manufacturing reps, and engineers.
  • Provide quick and timely order processing, and keep communication moving between customer and S&L.
  • Provide Technical Engineering Support in determining equipment required, specifications, and other documents to support the Sales Team, Representatives and Customers.
  • Work closely with Customer, Representative, Engineering and CM&O groups on larger treatment projects as the job is processed in Engineering and Manufacturing so it meets required customer deadlines.
  • Responsible for being well informed on the full line of Company products.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Keep work area neat and clean.
Qualifications
  • Possess an electrical associates degree or electrical certification. Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering is a PLUS.
  • Ability to read and learn mechanical / electrical job specifications and develop engineering specifications to build equipment on the order
  • Two years’ experience developing engineering plans/drawings/schematics or 2 years technical work in relevant industry is required in lieu of advanced education.
  • Possess excellent phone, communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accountability.
  • Ability to multi-task, take initiative, work quickly and accurately.
  • Strong MS Office application skills.
  • Strong organizing skills
Physical Requirements
  • Required to sit, stand and walk.
  • Use hands to finger, hand or feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Frequent stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
  • Reach with hands and arms.
  • Required to talk and hear consistently.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry and/or drag up to twenty-five (25) pounds if necessary.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the role include the ability to distinguish the nature of objects by using the eye.
  • Ability to ascend and descend two (2) flights of stairs.
