Job summary

Sofidel America in Shelby, NC is seeking a Maintenance Technician - Electrical to join our Maintenance department at the paper facility. You will perform electrical maintenance on machines, install and troubleshoot sensors, PLCs, drives, and control systems, and ensure safe, reliable production.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 3 years electrical experience or 2 years related education in lieu of experience.
• Experience with PLCs, pneumatics, or hydraulic systems.
• Experience with computerized maintenance system preferred.
• Experience with packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confined spaces, PPE) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/output modules and all associated control wiring.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and repair motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives and soft-starts up to 4160 Volt.
• Maintain and troubleshoot encoders, load cells, hydraulic systems, natural gas burners and boiler control systems.
• Installation, calibration and troubleshooting of pressure, level, flow, temperature, conductivity, turbidity, and pH transmitters.
• Tuning of process control loops and machine control systems.
• Programming and troubleshooting of DCS, PLC and HMI interfaces.
• Perform configuration and logic modifications to DCS and PLC control systems. Modifications will include programming in ladder logic, block logic. sequential logic and statement logic.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose configuration and implementation of integrated and stand-alone graphic human machine interfaces.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose specification of communication protocols, including Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet.
• Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles and associated conveyors and equipment.
• Hold self and others to high level of safety standards, ensuring workplace safety policies are upheld and safety rules are followed (lockout/tagout procedures, appropriate PPE)
• Participate as needed in safety incidents and help investigate root cause
• Ensure work environment is clean and free from debris

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma or Equivalentrequired
• Minimum 3 years demonstrated electrical experience or 2 years of related education in lieu of experience required
• Demonstrated experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), pneumatics, or hydraulic systems required
• Experienced in working with computerized maintenance system preferred
• Experience with troubleshooting and performing maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
• Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) preferred
• PLC programming preferred
• Welding and machining preferred
• Ability to work on a variety of machines (Perini & ChinLee rewinders, UNO wrappers, Infinity wrappers, folded machines, etc.) preferred

• Able to wear and comply with all personal protective equipment (Eye and ear protection, steel toed shoes, etc.)
• Able to lift, up to 40 lbs frequently, between 40 and 50 lbs occasionally, over 50 lbs minimally. When lifting 50 lbs and above, Technician will use team lifting and overhead crane assistance.
• Work environment includes exposure to compressed air, steam, lubrication oil, dust, and hydraulic fluid.
