Job summary

NEXHR is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Electrical Technician at the ASU site near Charleston, South Carolina. The role focuses on reliable operations, safety compliance, and efficient plant performance under the Plant Manager’s guidance.

The technician will oversee MV/LV electrical systems, control-system lifecycles, and instrumentation calibration while collaborating with quality and regulatory teams to ensure adherence to standards and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience as an Instrumentation Technician or Control System Specialist in a continuous process plant or related industry.
• Familiarity with instrumentation and control systems in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities

• Maintain MV/LV electrical systems and ensure safe, compliant operation.
• Lead lifecycle management of plant control systems including new/upgraded HMIs and controls.
• Troubleshoot HMI/PLC/SCADA systems and integrate with plant operations.
• Test and calibrate process instruments (analyzers, transmitters, sensors).
• Ensure accurate data acquisition for production, quality, and regulatory KPIs.
• Collaborate with quality and regulatory teams to maintain standards.

Job description

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Instrumentation & Electrical Technician (I&E Technician) at our ASU site near Charleston, South Carolina. The I&E Technician will work closely with the Plant Manager and other key stakeholders to ensure reliable operations, efficiency, and safety compliance.

• Oversee the maintenance, upkeep, and diagnostics of MV/LV electrical systems. Ensure the electrical switchgear operates efficiently and meets safety standards.
• Lead lifecycle management of plant control systems, including new and upgraded HMI and control systems.
• Oversee and troubleshoot HMI/PLC and SCADA systems to ensure they are functioning properly and integrating smoothly with plant operations and provide guidance on mechanical system maintenance.
• Conduct testing and calibration for key process instruments including analyzers, flow totalizers, transmitters, motor protection relays, and associated controls.
• Ensure precise data acquisition for key process parameters related to production rates, product quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage instrumentation and equipment that measure production rates, product quality parameters, on-stream performance, and environmental KPIs.
• Work in close collaboration with quality and regulatory compliance teams to ensure adherence to all applicable standards.

Experience required:

• High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s degree or technical school certification is preferred.
• Experience as an Instrumentation Technician, Electrical Engineer, or Control System Specialist, ideally within a continuous process plant or the industrial gas industry.
• Experience with both mechanical and electrical instrumentation.
• Familiar with the various software systems commonly used in an industrial setting (e.g., FactoryTalk, DeltaV, Wonderware, etc.)

Good to have:

• Experience in the operation and maintenance of cryogenic air separation plants and associated equipment and technologies, with a strong understanding of the processes involved.
• Experience training team members in plant maintenance and calibration, quality control procedures, and the proper techniques for instrument calibration and maintenance.
• Familiarity with water treatment technologies and the principles of industrial refrigeration systems
