Job description

Job Title: Electrical and Computer Engineering - CFS Professorial Faculty (2 Positions) Posting End Date: December 2, 2026 *NOTE: Last day to apply is Tuesday, December 1, 2026 @ 1159 p.m. (MST) Position Start Date: August 1, 2027 Required Degree: A doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or closely related discipline is required The required degree must be completed by the start date.

Duties/Expectations

The Electrical Engineering Department is seeking highly qualified candidates for multiple tenure track professorial positions. Qualified candidates must demonstrate an eagerness to fully support and participate in the ideals and missions of BYU. Successful applicants will be expected to excel in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, develop a strong externally funded research program, and participate in citizenship and administrative duties both to their academic societies and at BYU. Initial rank will be consistent with qualifications and experience.

Background

We seek highly-qualified applicants in all sub-disciplines of electrical and computer engineering. The department maintains strong research programs and state-of-the-art facilities spanning computing, computer vision, optics and photonics, microelectronic fabrication, unmanned aircraft systems, robotics, underwater vehicles, FPGA-based and high-performance embedded computing, high-speed low-power electronics, digital communications systems, signal processing, biomedical imaging, microfluidics, and electromagnetics. We welcome candidates who will complement these existing strengths as well as those who will open new directions with strong scholarly impact.

The department offers BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Computer Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering. BYU students come from all 50 states, and the National Survey of Student Engagement placed BYU in the 93rd percentile for level of academic challenge, the 91st percentile for fostering active and collaborative learning, and the 99th percentile for providing a supportive campus environment.
