Job summary

GMRE Inc. in Fort Wayne, IN is seeking an Electrical Aircraft Technician for day shift. You will perform maintenance and modifications on aircraft electrical and electronic systems using test equipment, and validate operation of subsystems and LRUs.

You will interpret maintenance procedures, support safety and quality, and work in a fast-paced environment with strict regulatory requirements. The role requires five years of electrical experience on military aircraft, with avionics wiring

Qualifications

  • Minimum five years electrical experience on military aircraft.
  • Experience installing avionics wiring and modifications such as routing, terminating 10/100 and Gig Ethernet wiring, copper and coaxial wires, shielded twisted pairs, and connectors.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoots, inspects, removes, installs, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and operates aircraft electrical systems and LRUs.
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance.
  • Interprets electrical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to support maintenance actions.
  • Handles hazardous waste and materials in accordance with regulations.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoots, inspects, removes, installs, repairs, modifies, overhauls, and operates aircraft electrical systems, components, and associated support equipment.
  • Recommends methods to improve equipment performance and maintenance.
  • Knowledge is mandatory of electrical, electronic, and mechanical principles relating to electrical systems, concepts, and application of maintenance directives.
  • Ability to interpret the meaning of symbols used in wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Must have the ability to properly handle, use, and dispose of hazardous waste and materials.

Education And Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years total electrical experience in Fighter/Attack/Bomber (preferably F-16) aircraft maintenance as an electrician.
  • Must have experience working with aircraft wiring, technicians will be installing Avionics system modifications by routing, terminating 10/100 and Gig Ethernet wiring, copper wires, primary power wires, Coaxial wires , shielded twisted pairs/triplets, and possibly triaxial wires/connectors.
Security Clearance Requirements
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. SECRET clearance and be subject to a government security investigation.
  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver’s license is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Normal color vision as defined by GMRE, with a passing score of 75% or greater.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Travel Required
  • Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position for meetings, trainings, and/or site visits.
