Job summary

Komatsu America Corp. in Elko, Nevada is seeking an Electric Wheel Loader (LeTourneau) Service Technician to maintain and repair electric wheel loaders and support customers in the field.

You will diagnose electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, perform routine maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance with MSHA regulations. The role offers competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for career development.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of field service or heavy equipment experience.
  • Experience with high-voltage electrical systems and hydraulic systems.
  • Prior work on Komatsu Electric Wheel Loaders or LeTourneau equipment desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems on Komatsu Electric Wheel Loaders.
  • Perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime and maximize lifespan.
  • Conduct software updates, calibrations, and adjustments on control systems.
  • Travel to customer sites for field service and provide customer training.

Key Job Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems onKomatsu Electric Wheel Loaders.
  • Perform routine and scheduled maintenance to prevent downtime and maximize equipment lifespan.
  • Conduct software updates, calibrations, and adjustments on control systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools to identify faults in electrical and drive systems.
  • Ensure all repairs comply withKomatsu’s specifications, MSHA regulations, and industry best practices.

Technical Support & Customer Service

  • Provide technical assistance to customers, ensuring proper operation and maintenance of electric wheel loaders.
  • Train operators and maintenance personnel on best practices for machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Document service work, including reports, parts used, and recommended future maintenance.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships through professional and timely support.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to allMSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulationsand company safety policies while working on equipment.
  • Maintain a strong understanding ofmine site safety requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments before servicing equipment in the field.
  • Ensure compliance withenvironmental and industry standards.

Travel & Field Work

  • Travel to customer sites and remote locations, includingmine sites, to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete service assignments efficiently.
  • Occasionally work in extreme weather conditions and challenging environments
Qualifications/Requirements

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required;Technical Certification or Associate Degree in Heavy Equipment, Electrical Systems, or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experiencein field service, heavy equipment maintenance, or industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience withhigh-voltage electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and diesel-powered heavy equipment.
  • Prior experience working onKomatsu Electric Wheel Loaders or LeTourneau equipmentis highly desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge ofelectrical drive systems, AC/DC motors, power electronics, and PLCs.
  • Proficiency inhydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, technical drawings, and service manuals.
  • Familiarity withKomatsu diagnostic software and related tools.
Additional Information

Certifications & Additional Requirements

  • MSHA Certification required.
  • MSHA Green Card is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently in field environments with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to travel extensively.
  • Willingness to work overtime and respond to emergency service calls as needed.
