Job summary

Chipton-Ross, Inc. is seeking multiple Electrical Welders for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA. The role requires first-class welder experience in naval shipyards and proficiency with multi-pass fillet and butt welds.

Candidates must pass MIL-STD-248D qualification tests and comply with OSHA/ANSI PPE requirements. The work is in a shipyard environment, using SMAW, air carbon arc gouging, and related welding processes.

Qualifications

• Four years of NNS or naval shipyard experience as a first class Welder.
• Proficient in multi-pass welding, all-position fillet and butt welds (SMAW, oxy-fuel heating).
• Experience in shipboard environments and adherence to OSHA regulations.
• Familiar with Air Carbon Arc Gouging and weld gauge usage.
• Pass welding qualification tests per MIL-STD-248D 5.3.3 including 2G/3G/4G.

Responsibilities

• Pass all position, multi-pass butt weld and welder qualification tests prior to first day.
• Comply with LLPC and Newport News safety requirements and PPE provisions.
• Work in shipyard environment with OSHA/ANSI safety standards.
• Utilize SMAW, Air Carbon Arc Gouging, and related welding processes.
