Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty, is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering, and construction oversight on transmission, substation, and distribution projects ranging in voltages from 4kV to 765kV.

Headquartered in Akron, OH, and working nationally, Welty Energy currently manages approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the U.S.

Welty Energy is seeking a Project Manager to join our team! On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating all activities related to high voltage engineering, design, procurement, and construction of major capital projects and programs. You will oversee medium to high complexity projects and/or programs, playing a pivotal role in our success. This role is remote with travel to client sites as required (15-20%).

As a Welty Energy Project Manager, you may:

  • Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the client regarding your projects.
  • Conduct technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addenda, and construction documents to ensure they meet client standards and specifications, utilizing technical expertise as needed.
  • Lead project planning and status meetings to maintain schedules and budgets, and communicate significant issues to relevant parties.
  • Provide updates on project schedules, engineering, construction, and budgets to management teams.
  • Oversee construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and site walk-downs.
  • Act as the single point of contact for construction submittals, reviews, and coordination of project documents.
  • Ensure necessary outages are identified, submitted, and communicated timely to avoid schedule conflicts.
  • Obtain required permits and approvals for fieldwork.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with coordination, reporting, and other tasks related to construction projects and programs.
  • Perform regular site safety inspections.
  • Focus on stakeholder interaction and client expectations during project planning and execution.
  • Adhere to project management principles to estimate, monitor, and control project resources, schedules, and activities.
  • Follow client methods, processes, and policies in project execution.

What we require:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant electric utility project management experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in project management or project controls.
  • Experience in electric utility project management is preferred.
  • PMP certification is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.
