Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. seeks a Professional to Project Electric Transmission Siting Specialist to lead siting, permitting, and project strategy for energy transmission lines. The role supports our Northeast offices and offers hybrid or remote work options, with travel as needed.

You will manage routing studies, engage with stakeholders, mentor junior staff, and collaborate across engineering, environmental, and permitting teams to deliver timely, compliant solutions for diverse clients.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of direct experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects for energy-related projects.
  • Understanding of Virginia SCC EPC processes for electric transmission lines is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with leadership ability.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a siting and environmental permitting subject matter expert.
  • Work with clients on public involvement programs; attend and participate in open houses, public meetings, and hearings.

This position will support our Philadelphia, PA practice and can be based from any of our Northeast offices such as; Richmond, VA, Columbia, MD, Washington D.C., or any of our other U.S offices. The flexibility to work a hybrid schedule or fully remote from your home-office is available at the discretion of the Company. This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects, including the financial and technical evaluation, design, permitting, and construction stages. Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Serve as a siting and environmental permitting subject matter expert.

  • Work with clients for public involvement programs; attend and participate in open houses, public meetings, and public hearings.

  • Managing and directing routing/siting studies, analyses, and associated reports and state filings.

  • Work collaboratively across the firm with multi-disciplinary teams which could include engineers, attorneys, planners, permitting and environmental specialists, and real estate experts.

  • Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.

  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.


Education and Licensure


  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Natural Sciences, Civil Engineering, Ecology, Planning, or Geospatial Analysis (required)

  • Advanced degree in the same (preferred)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications


  • At least 5 years (7+ preferred) of direct experience managing environmental permitting and planning projects, for a variety of energy-related projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)

  • Detailed understanding of Virginia State Corporation Commission application processes for electric transmission lines (preferred), North Carolina Public Utilities Commission, Ohio Power Siting Board, or Kentucky Public Utilities Commission.

  • Positive relationships with siting/routing or permitting specialists in utility organizations. (preferred)

  • Experience with public witness testimony and contract negotiations (preferred)

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, strong written and verbal communication skills; Excellent leadership skills. (required)

  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)

  • Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)


This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.



  • Minimum Salary: $77,010 /year / Maximum Salary: $120,135 /year (Richmond, VA)

  • Minimum Salary: $80,860 /year / Maximum Salary: $126,140 /year (Columbia, MD)

  • Minimum Salary: $84,710 /year / Maximum Salary: $132,145 /year (Washington D.C)
