RTX, through Pratt & Whitney, seeks an Electric Propulsion Systems Engineer II to contribute to end-to-end propulsion system design, modeling, and validation across power electronics, high-voltage systems, and protections.
Candidates will join the Engineering Development Program (EDP) with three rotations over 2.5 years to gain breadth and depth in technical experiences, forming a strong foundation for future contributions within RTX.
Are you ready to explore the world of aerospace and defense? Do you want to learn from and collaborate with some of the greatest minds in the industry? At RTX, our internships, co-ops and full-time careers provide an exceptional foundation to work on complex problems, advance your skills and create a safer, more connected world. Discover opportunities to make a difference at RTX.
Control & Diagnostic Systems (CDS) is a discipline within P&W Engineering, responsible for control system architecture, safety and reliability, thermal management, dynamic analysis, software design and verification. Within CDS, the Control System Engineering and Electrification (CSEE) is responsible for the end-to-end Control Systems Engineering and Electrical Propulsion Systems Engineering Value Stream.
Within CSEE, the Electric Propulsion System Engineering (EPSE) group is responsible for architecting, designing, and developing game-changing hybrid-electric propulsion systems. EPSE engineers work across all CDS subdisciplines to help achieve program objectives of the CDS CIPT.
EPSE engineers apply skills from across a wide range of PW Engineering disciplines such as Performance, Operability, Mechanical Disciplines, Aerothermal Management, to develop, integrate and certify subsystems and hardware for Civil and Military customers. EPSE engineers work the entire system life cycle from 1) control system technology development, 2) interpreting customer requirements, decomposing them to hardware and software, 3) technical and project oversight of hardware implementation, to 4) ensuring control system compliance across engine, flight and customer compliance testing, and finally, 5) leading system and hardware field issue triage and resolution.
EPSE engineers work collaboratively with industry partners, including key suppliers and customers, in a team environment, to advance the technology readiness level of emerging hybrid-electric systems and components. EPSE engineers support the concept design definition, system integration, prototype testing and product detail design development, certification and validation, both for systems and components. EPSE engineers support technical proposals, cost estimates, concept trade-off analysis and modeling, in support of advanced hybrid-electric projects.
Candidates hired will begin their first 2.5 years at Pratt & Whitney as part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program consists of three rotations that are 12 months - 9 months - 9 months in duration and typically occur in three distinct disciplines within the hiring department. The intent of our EDP is to offer breadth & depth in various technical experiences through challenging positions available in our organizations. This program will help expand your professional and technical competencies that will serve as the foundation for exceptional contributions that you will make at Pratt & Whitney.
