Job summary

Impulse Space is seeking an Electric Propulsion Engineering Intern in Redondo Beach, CA to support development and testing of electric propulsion systems for the Mira spacecraft. You will work alongside propulsion engineers on concept design, lab testing, manufacturing, and hardware integration.

This hands-on role covers vacuum chamber testing, diagnostics, and hardware development, offering an opportunity to contribute to deep-space technologies during a 12‑week internship from May/June 2027

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with CAD software and basic design principles.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
• 12-week internship May/June 2027 through August/September 2027.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design, assembly, and operation of electric propulsion test facilities.
• Support development, fabrication, analysis, and testing of propulsion hardware.
• Prepare setups, execute procedures, and analyze results.
• Assist in component design using CAD tools and drafting.
• Support cross‑disciplinary testing with mechanical, thermal, and controls engineers.
• Participate in hardware build, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
