Job summary

Verto People, Ltd. is seeking a Field Service Technician specializing in generators and switchgear. This Arkansas-based role is field-based with up to 50% travel and pays $45-$55 per hour, plus a $5,000 relocation bonus and a 401(k) with company match.

You will install, commission, start-up and troubleshoot power generation equipment. You will diagnose, maintain, repair diesel/gas engines and switchgear, perform preventive maintenance, complete service reports, and support startups and testing

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field experience servicing diesel or gas engines, generators, switchgear.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Caterpillar, Cummins, or similar power generation systems is a plus.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record; willingness to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel/gas engines, generators, switchgear, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, load bank testing, system inspections, and switchgear testing/maintenance to ensure reliability.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues across power generation and distribution systems using manuals, schematics, and diagnostic software.
• Complete service reports, work orders, and documentation accurately.
• Communicate with coordinators, management, and clients about job status, parts, and next steps.
• Assist with start-ups, commissioning, and testing of new generator and switchgear installations.
• Take part in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours calls as needed.

Compensation: $45-$55 per hour, 401k with 6% company match
