Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Shop Technician

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Washington D.C., is hiring an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Shop Technician in Winchester, Virginia. This role involves servicing, diagnosing, and repairing EPG rental equipment, including power, temperature control, air, pumps, and used equipment, at Carter or customer facilities.

Responsibilities

1. Service, diagnose, and repair EPG rental equipment, including electrical generators, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
2. Perform mechanical repairs and troubleshooting engine failures.
3. Test batteries, fuel tanks, gensets, including loadbanking.
4. Support rental equipment in the field as needed.
5. Maintain excellent customer service and promote a positive customer experience.

7. Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Previous experience diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures and electrical generator systems.
• Thorough electrical knowledge of Gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
• Ability to test batteries, fuel tanks, and loadbanking of gensets.
• Good troubleshooting skills and ability to work in a team environment.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Well-organized with the ability to prioritize workload.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and additional hours as required.
• Willingness to travel, including out of town and out of country.
• Experience with electronic software applications.
• Excellent driving record; ability to obtain CDL and/or DOT certification.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and maneuver items up to 70 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
