Carter Machinery Co. Inc. is seeking an Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Technician in Chesapeake, VA to service, diagnose, and repair EPG rental equipment at Carter facilities or customer sites.

The starting compensation range is $26.46 - $38.81 per hour, plus a $2,000 sign-on bonus. The role requires electrical know-how, field work, strong communication, and willingness to travel to meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough electrical knowledge of gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps.
• Ability to test batteries, fuel tanks, and all gensets including load banking.
• Willing to work in the field to support PSD rental equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting and teamwork; excellent oral and written communication.
• Clean driving record with ability to obtain CDL/DOT.
• Excellent customer service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Service, diagnose, and repair EPG rental equipment for power, temperature control, air, pumps and used equipment at Carter or customer facilities.
• Travel as needed to support customers and meet demand.

Job Title: Electric Power Generation (EPG) Rental Technician

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia

Shift: 1st

Starting Compensation Range: $26.46 - $38.81 per hour

The EPG Rental Technician is responsible for servicing, diagnosing, and repairing EPG rental equipment for power, temperature control, air, pumps and used equipment, at a Carter or customer facility, by performing the following duties.

Requirements for the EPG Rental Technician position include:

• Must have a thorough electrical knowledge and understanding of Gensets, air compressors, fuel tanks, and pumps
• Must possess ability to test batteries, fuel tanks, all gensets including loadbanking
• Must be willing to work in the field as needed to support all PSD rental equipment
• Must have good trouble shooting skills
• Must work well in a team environment
• Must be a strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be well organized and have the ability to prioritize workload while providing excellent customer service
• Must be able to work with limited supervision
• Must be able to work additional hours as required and travel out of town, including out of the country to meet customers' demands
• Experience in the use and application of electronic software
• Must have an excellent driving record required with the ability to obtain a CDL and/or DOT certification

Seeking Candidates with:

• Previous experience diagnosing and troubleshooting engine failures and performing mechanical repairs to electrical generator systems and related equipment
• High school diploma or GED, required

Physical Requirements:

• Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
• Frequently required to sit
• Regularly lift and/or more up to 70 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
