Job summary

HECO in Kentucky seeks an experienced Electric Motor Winder to disassemble, rewind, and test motor components with emphasis on accuracy, quality, and safety. Responsibilities include inspecting windings, measuring parts, and documenting findings while using VPI systems and varnish processes.

The role requires strong brazing, measuring, and mathematical skills, plus the ability to work in a collaborative team to ensure high reliability of rotating equipment.

Qualifications

• Two+ years of motor winding experience and knowledge of winding techniques.
• Experience in electrical testing and accurate documentation.
• Familiarity with insulation practices and brazing.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, rewind, reassemble, and test motor components.
• Record precise measurements prior to disassembly.
• Inspect for winding faults and document repair findings.
• Rewind random and form wound motors, armatures, rotors, and DC fields.
• Apply insulation per specifications and perform electrical tests at each stage.
• Operate VPI systems and handle varnish processes.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow PPE policies.
• Assist with other motor and generator repairs as needed.
