Job summary

Brehob Corporation in Indianapolis is seeking a skilled Motor Winder to support its motor winding department. The role involves identifying repair needs, documenting data, and diagnosing faults with specialized test equipment.

You will dismantle, wind, insulate and test windings, ensuring compliance with EASA guidelines and quality standards. The ideal candidate has 1–3 years in electrical/mechanical repair, familiarity with motor connections, and the ability to lift up to 70 pounds.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Identify equipment needing repair (AC/DC Motors, generators, armatures, transformers, coils).
• Document external data associated with equipment or winding.
• Diagnose/test malfunctions using diagnostic equipment (megger, hi pot, test panels).
• Dismantle equipment and collect internal data.
• Identify and document internal winding data.
• Convert winding data per EASA guidelines.
• Remove old winding from core or bobbin.
• Test core viability and heat dispersion with core test equipment.
• Repair/modify core to meet test criteria; complete core re-stack if needed.
• Determine insulation of core and components for Insulation Classification.
• Size and wind coils or wire for equipment.
• Perform wire insertion, wedging, tying; handle final soldering/welding leads.
• Tie and proof end clearance of finished winding; perform tests and document results.
• Apply insulation varnish; dip and bake winding if applicable.
• Clean up and ensure finish accuracy; document results.
• Maintain clear oral and written communication with team and managers.
• Must be physically capable of lifting up to 70 pounds.

Brehob Corporation is seeking a well-qualified Motor Winder to work in our motor winding department in our Indianapolis Division.

Qualifications and requirements:

• Familiarity with various electric motor & generator connections.
• Knowledge of AC and DC theory and electrical circuits.
• A minimum of 1 to 3 years’ experience in electrical / mechanical repair, motor shop servicing or completion of an accredited EASA or military training program.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team as applicable.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify the type of equipment needing repair such as AC/DC Motors, generators, armatures, transformers, coils, etc.
• Document the external data associated with the equipment or winding.
• Diagnose and/or test the equipment for malfunctions, failures or damage using diagnostic equipment such as megger, hi pot, AC or DC test panels and related equipment.
• Dismantle equipment and collection internal data.
• Identify and document internal winding data.
• Convert internal winding data as applicable per EASA guidelines.
• Remove old winding from core or bobbin.
• Utilize available core test equipment and programs to determine core viability and proper heat dispersion.
• Repair or modify existing core to meet test criteria.
• Complete full or partial core re-stack, if necessary
• Determine correct insulation of core and component parts applicable to the equipment Insulation Classification.
• Correctly size and wind coils or wire applicable to insulated equipmment.
• Perform appropriate wire insertion, wedging and tying of winding or wire.
• Perform connection sequence including equipment necessary for final soldering, brazing or welding of internal coil leads to exterior leads.
• Tie and proof end clearance of finished winding.
• Perform and document final electrical and mechanical test results of the winding, insulation and connections.
• Apply the necessary fit, thread and identification coating to allow the correct insulating varnish application.
• Dip and bake winding, if applicable.
• Clean up coated fits, threads and identification plates of dip & baked winding.
• Perform final testing and documentation, if applicable.
• Requires oral and written skills to effectively communicate with co-workers, shop staff, supervisors and managers.
• Qualified person must have at least basic mechanical skills, preferably industrial. They must be able to pass a preemployment drug screen. He/she must be able to lift, push or pull up to 70 pounds.
