Overview

Wright Electric Inc. (Wright) is a U.S.-based company developing the world’s first zero-emissions commercial aircraft. Wright is looking for an electric motor design engineer to join our team. Because Wright is a small company, employees are asked to wear many hats. You will work closely with the mechanical engineers and power electronics engineers to develop Wright’s motor platform. The ideal candidate is assertive, pragmatic, hands‑on, with excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

Work with Wright’s cross‑functional teams (aero, power electronics, program management) to define electric motor design and sizing to meet relevant requirements. Capable of owning tasks from beginning to end.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Electrical Engineering is suggested, but all experienced candidates are encouraged to apply
• 5+ years of electric motor design and development
• Experience with prototype and product development
• Experience with supporting testing and test‑plan development
• Experience with support selection/specification of components such as electrical cable, wiring and related instrumentation, measuring, and monitoring equipment
• Experience with power electronic and controls modeling in Simulink or PSIM
• Previous experience designing permanent magnet motors and high frequency magnetics
