Job summary

Peak Utility Infrastructure is seeking a field technician to read and service electric meters at residential and commercial sites in Florida. The role requires driving to properties, accessing meters, and ensuring accurate readings while maintaining safety and quality workmanship.

You will interact with customers, document work performed, and follow procedures for meter changes and disconnections. Prior experience with electricity and ladders is preferred; a valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Two (2+) plus years of customer service experience.
• Experience with electricity and ladders preferred.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Driving approximately 75% of the day.
• Enter residential and commercial properties to access the electric meter.
• Set, change, or disconnect meters and read meters.
• Respond to meter issues with energized equipment.
• Provide courteous customer service to clients.
• Maintain pride and high workmanship in all tasks.

Essential Functions:

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Driving (75%/day)
• Entering residential and commercial property to access the electric meter to perform required work
• Services provided: Setting, changing, or disconnecting the electric meter as well as reading investigation
• Working with energized electric equipment to respond to meter issue for Xcel
• Providing customer service with a responsibility to humility and to the customers we serve
• Working with pride and a high quality of workmanship

Success Factors:

• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a work shift
• Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping, and kneeling
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy
• English usage sufficient to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple narrative reports
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills

Experience and Education:

• Two (2+) plus years of customer service experience
• One (2+) plus years of working with electricity and on ladders preferred
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year to year basis

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State of Residence Driver’s License is required within two weeks of employment.
• Candidates must pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)background checks and pass a pre-employment drug screen.
