Job summary

City of New Bern seeks skilled Electric Line Worker to assist in construction, maintenance and repair of electric transmission and distribution lines. Work involves climbing poles, operating line trucks and performing live work on circuits.

Positions require completion of Powerline Technician levels and CPR/first aid; valid NC CDL is required. Candidates should be able to work in adverse weather and respond to emergencies as part of standby rotations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and extensive experience as Electric Groundworker or Power Line Technician I.
• Possession of Powerline Technician Level I, II and III certifications.
• First aid and CPR certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Climbs wooden poles and works from heights.
• Performs live work on secondary circuits.
• Installs and repairs underground cable.
• Operates line truck and related equipment.
• Responds to emergency calls under adverse weather conditions.
• Works standby on rotation basis.
