Job summary

NYSEG, part of Avangrid, is seeking a Line Mechanic 1/C, Apprentice Acceptable for the Lancaster, NY area. The role involves constructing and maintaining energized conductors, structures, and equipment under directive supervision, with responsibilities including transformer installations, phasing, switching, grounding, and completing meter/service work as required.

Candidates should have at least three years as Second-Class Lineman or equivalent, pass the required physical exam including color

Qualifications

• Three years' experience as Second-Class Lineman or equivalent.
• Must pass physical examination by company physician, including color perception.
• Willingness to work irregular and/or extra hours as required.
• Able to qualify for automobile operator's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform the most complex construction and maintenance work on energized conductors, structures and equipment.
• Make transformer installations, perform phasing and phase rotation on polyphase circuits.
• Trace and clear grounds and opens on series circuits; handle meters and services as needed.
