Job summary

Polluxa, Inc. is seeking a System Engineer for Electric Drive Modules (EDMs) to optimize and define best-in-class EDM systems including eMotor, PIM and gearbox for BEV propulsion.

You will lead development, refine optimization methodologies, and ensure cross-domain integration across electrical, mechanical, thermal and NVH aspects. You will investigate and implement AI in EDM system design, run trade studies, evaluate proposals, and recommend optimal EDM designs.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in optimization and design of BIC EDM systems for BEVs, considering efficiency, performance, NVH, cost and constraints.
  • Expert in eMotor design with minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Good understanding of Electric Drive System design - eMotor design, power electronics / power inverter module design / gearbox design / motor controls.
  • Expert in model-based system engineering and tools - MATLAB, Simulink, Simcenter Amesim and other 1D simulation software.
  • Experience in implementing AI in EDM system design optimization.
  • Expert in EDM System analysis- efficiency and performance.
  • Experience in defining requirements for EDM or its subcomponents - eMotor, PIM or gearbox.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EDM system design optimization and define EDM subcomponents (eMotor, PIM, gearbox).
  • Develop EDM concepts to meet technical specs, life, and quality requirements.
  • Invest in AI techniques for EDM design optimization and validation.
  • Run trade-off studies, evaluate proposals, and recommend best EDM designs.
  • Support fellow system engineers across multiple programs globally.
  • Contribute to EDMs technical roadmap and process improvements.

Job description

The Electric Drive Modules (EDMs) System Engineer is responsible for optimizing, designing, and defining the Best-in-Class [BIC] EDM system [eMotor, Power Inverter, Gearbox] for efficiency, performance or cost for a given vehicle requirements / constraint. The engineer would lead the development, further improve, and maintain EDM system design optimization process/ methodologies considering all domains- electrical, mechanical, thermal and NVH. The engineer will investigate and implement artificial intelligence for EDM system design. The System Engineer would run trade of studies, evaluate design proposals, and recommend best technical EDM design. The engineer will be supporting fellow system engineers on multiple programs globally. The engineer will define requirements for EDM system and its subcomponents- eMotor, PIM, Gearbox. The Engineer will participate in EDMs technical roadmap and develop different EDMs concepts to meet its technical specs, life, and quality requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Expert in model-based system engineering and tools -MATLAB, Simulink, Simcenter Amesim and other competitive commercial system 1D simulation software.
  • Experience in implementing AI in EDM system design optimization.
  • Expert in EDM System analysis- efficiency and performance.
  • Experience in defining requirements for EDM or its subcomponents -eMotor, PIM or gearbox.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team.
