Job description

Position: Electric Distribution Operator

Location: Henrico, VA

Rotating Shift Work / 8-week schedule

12 Months contract

This role is responsible for service restoration and distribution switching activities using extensive knowledge of electrical distribution systems, including technical knowledge of operations and switching practices. Ensures all reporting is completed to keep management informed of system conditions, circuit outages, key and critical customer interruptions, and extended outages. Communicates with on-call/duty field and office personnel on the status of distribution outages and service restoration efforts. Will complete the Switching Supervisor Training Program to become ROC switching certified within 12 months. The role involves a shift-oriented workforce.

Minimum Requirements:
  1. Preferred experience with dispatching, emergency services, military experience, complex database management, and customer service.
  2. Understanding of the Electric Distribution System.
  3. Skills: Interpersonal skills; strong written and verbal communication; analytical skills; proficiency in personal and mainframe computer applications.
  4. Abilities: Independent problem resolution; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; adaptability to changing priorities; leadership abilities.
  5. Availability and commitment to work a flexible 24/7 shift schedule, including overtime and storm callouts as required.
Required Skill Sets:
  • Multi-tasking capabilities (handling changing priorities).
  • Computer skills (all Windows applications, typing, etc.).
  • Data analysis skills (reviewing multiple information sources to determine appropriate actions).
Nice to Have Skills:
  • GIS, electrical background, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office.
Compensation:

Pay Range: $25 - $30 per hour on W2.

The specific compensation will depend on factors such as role scope, complexity, location, market labor costs, candidate skills, education, training, credentials, experience, and other employment conditions.
