Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Design Rep A-Electric in Syracuse, NY. Starting wage is $39.62 per hour with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k), vacation, and tuition assistance.

Under supervision, you will develop knowledge of construction orders for overhead and underground electric facilities, perform load studies, prepare layouts, cost estimates, and coordinate with telecom groups, while following Company standards and procedures.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in Electrical Technology, Mechanical Technology or GIS.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history.
• Ability to handle contacts with customers and other departments.
• Pass validated aptitude exam identified by the Company.
• Ability to follow prescribed standards and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Promote the extension or construction of electric facilities and obtain right-of-ways.
• Advise customers in the proper application of their electric service.
• Prepare layouts of overhead and underground electric transmission facilities.
• Prepare cost estimates of construction and maintenance projects.
• Coordinate with telecommunications groups for duct space leasing.
• Review network service submittals for compliance with Company Specifications.
• Make load studies on distribution transformers and investigate overloads.
• Design network and service upgrades and related installations.
