Job summary

Complete Coach Works, a D/T Carson Enterprises, Inc. unit, is seeking an Electric Bus Field Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain hybrid and electric transit buses.

Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required; CDL A/B with passenger endorsement preferred.
• 4+ years hybrid/electrical experience.
• Strong background in electrical diagnosis, maintenance & repair.
• Ability to travel and work remotely.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and changing schedules.
• Hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting experience.
• Multitasking and time-management skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair electric vehicle systems to ensure peak performance.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems including multiplex controls.
• Research using computers, diagnostic tools, manuals.
• Perform routine maintenance and install new components.
• Coordinate repair strategies with project managers, engineers, and clients.
• EV battery replacement and EV drivetrain repair.
• Interpret electrical drawings and perform tests after repairs.

Reports To: Field Service Manager

Department: Field Service

Essential Responsibilities

The primary duty of the Hybrid Systems & Battery Electric Bus Field Service Technician is to repair, maintain, troubleshoot and service electrical and hybrid transit buses and related equipment, using a range of tools from advanced computer diagnostics to basic mechanical tools. The Hybrid Systems & Battery Electric Bus Field Technician must have knowledge of and understand how parts of the bus or coach must perform. Employees in this classification perform skilled mechanical tasks in preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of hybrid and electric vehicles and equipment.

Specific Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair complex electric vehicle systems to ensure they are running at peak performance .
• Performs troubleshooting/diagnosing of electrical, including but not limited to Multiplex electrical systems.
• Conducts research using computers and software, diagnostic equipment, manuals and other sources.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and installing new components.
• Liaison for project managers, engineers and clients to coordinate repair strategies.
• EV battery replacement and repair.
• EV drivetrain diagnostics and repair.
• Interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
• Perform tests to ensure proper operation of systems after repair.
• Enter work order data onto computer systems.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Regular attendance is an essential function of the job.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license required; CDL A or B with passenger endorsement preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of Hybrid/Electrical experience.
• Strong background in electrical diagnosing, maintaining and repairing systems and components.
• Ability to travel and work remotely.
• Ability to work flexible shifts and changing work schedules.
• Hands on experience with electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• Multitasking and time management ability.
• Customer service skills.
• Understand and carry out oral and written Instructions.

Must be able to:

• Carry, pull, and push up to 50 pounds of dead weight
• Climb up and down a ladder
• Sit, stand, stoop, kneel, squat, crouch, and/or crawl
• Twist or turn in confined spaces
