Electric Arc Furnace Operator (Melter) - Rotational

Role Overview

Harrison Steel is seeking individuals to operate their electric arc furnaces (melters). Responsibilities include operating and maintaining 20-ton electric arc furnaces, and managing the melting and refining process to meet customer specifications. Each batch of liquid steel, starting from recycled solid steel, takes about 3 hours to liquefy and refine. Flexibility to work any shift and adapt to different shifts with notice is required.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Operate electric arc furnaces safely, following work instructions and specifications.
  2. Record melting logs and summary sheets for each batch of steel.
  3. Monitor all furnace and auxiliary equipment to ensure proper operation.
  4. Maintain shift flexibility.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  1. Experience in heavy industrial environments operating machinery.
  2. Basic computer application skills.
  3. Strong mathematical skills for quick calculations.
  4. Ability to make quick decisions and ensure safety for all personnel.

Compensation

Hourly wage ranges from $18.09 to $30.15.
