Job description

Arc Initiatives

Election Season Communications Intern

Washington, District of Columbia

The Opportunity

Arc Initiatives is a full-service political, digital, and public affairs consulting firm. Our team of experienced professionals has waged and won dozens of high-profile, high-stakes campaigns for candidates, coalitions, and causes - and we do the same thing for our clients. We're looking for a talented and motivated individual to add capacity to our health care advocacy team through the November elections. This individual will support media outreach for a national bus tour that will crisscross the country to call out Republicans in Congress for the cuts they've made to Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act that are driving up costs and leaving millions of Americans without coverage.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • You will become a key staffer on one or more of Arc Initiatives' campaign teams.
  • You will call newsrooms to help drive media attendance and coverage to virtual and in-person media events.
  • You will track coverage of these events and other relevant issues for our clients.
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • You are a recent graduate or somebody looking to get hands-on experience in the exciting world of public affairs, political communication, or digital strategy.
  • You have some experience working in advocacy, political campaigns, or for elected officials.
  • You want a fast-paced work environment where you'll be challenged and grow your skill sets.
  • You are organized, proactive, and self-directed.
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • You're comfortable doing outreach to external stakeholders, including vendors and the news media.
  • You're passionate about progressive causes, including (but not limited to) health care, public lands, and the environment.
  • You have a good sense of humor.

Please keep in mind: Research has shown that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds only apply to jobs when they meet 100% of the requirements vs. their majority counterparts, who apply at a much higher rate if they meet 50-60% of the requirements. So, with that being said, if you are interested in the role, we would love to hear how you can leverage your talents to be an excellent addition to Arc Initiatives' team.

The Details
  • This is a temporary position with an end date of November 6, 2026.
  • The time commitment is 20-30 hours per week, with the expectation that this individual keeps a consistent schedule.
  • Hourly pay: $20
  • This is a hybrid position with three days of in-office work per week expected.
  • This is a temporary, part-time position and is not eligible for employer sponsored health insurance or other benefits. Employees accrue paid sick and safe leave in accordance with the District of Columbia's Accrued Sick and Safe Leave Act.

The deadline to apply is September 15, 2026. Interviews will be on a rolling basis.
