Job summary

EmergencyMD is seeking an experienced Associate Elder Law Attorney to join our Watchung, NJ office. The role requires 3+ years of elder law experience and a JD degree.

The attorney will provide peace of mind and advocacy to elderly clients, handle complex planning instruments, and support Medicaid and estate administration matters in a full-time in-office setting. The position emphasizes problem solving, detailed document drafting, and accurate billing with engagement and fee explanations.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required; 3+ years elder law experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and delegation skills.
• Proficiency with CLIO and MS Office.
• Ability to manage client relations and explain engagement process and fee schedule.

Responsibilities

• Support the managing partner with drafting planning instruments including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, health care directives, beneficiary designations, and advise on tax and Medicaid implications and complex asset protection plans; supervise signing ceremonies.
• Manage estate and trust administration matters; prepare fiduciary accounts; advise on beneficiary relations and asset management; interact with financial institutions and Surrogate court.
• Advise on Medicaid spend-down and applications; defend Medicaid clients in fair hearings; advocate for elderly clients in care settings.
• Engage in litigation related to will and trust contests, guardianship/conservatorship, and other elder law issues.
• 40 hours per week with potential for extra hours as needed.
