Job summary

Safe Harbor Home Care in San Diego currently seeks Personal Care Attendants to provide non-medical in-home services to clients who need assistance with daily living activities. Focus areas include bathing, dressing, mobility, meal prep, light housekeeping and companionship in clients' homes and communities.

Caregivers ensure compassionate, respectful service in line with agency policies and California state regulations, supporting clients to remain independent at home.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 or older
• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents
• Clearance verified on Home Care Aide Registry
• Current TB certificate
• Registered with CA and active HCA number
• Completed LIC 508 Criminal Record Statement
• Completed LIC 501 Personnel Record
• Completed SOC 341A Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Suspected Abuse
• Minimum of five hours orientation training prior to client presence

Responsibilities

• Assist with bathing, dressing, ambulation and other daily living activities.
• Provide medication reminders and support as needed.
• Perform light housekeeping and meal planning/preparation.
• Offer companionship and ensure client comfort and safety.
• Document care activities and communicate concerns to supervisors.

Job Description Summary

• Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers provide non-medical service and assistance to a client in their home and communities, who, because of advanced age or physical or mental disability, cannot perform these services. These services enable the client to remain in his or her residence and include, but are not limited to, assistance with the following: bathing, dressing, feeding, exercising, personal hygiene and grooming, transferring, ambulating, positioning, toileting and incontinence care, assisting with medication that the client self-administers, housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, laundry, transportation, correspondence, making telephone calls, shopping for personal care items or groceries, and companionship.
• Personal Care Attendant-Caregivers are responsible for ensuring that service is delivered in a caring and respectful manner, in accordance with relevant Agency policies, industry standards, and state regulations.

Eligibility Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

• 18 years of age or older
• Valid I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification documents

Able to obtain during onboarding process:

• Clearance Verified on the Home Care Aide Registry
• Current Tuberculosis (TB) certificate
• Registered with state of CA and active HCA number
• Completed “Criminal Record Statement” (LIC 508)
• Complete “Personnel Record” (LIC 501)
• Complete “Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Suspected Abuse of Dependent Adults and Elders” (SOC 341A)
• Minimum of five (5) hours entry-level orientation training prior to presence with client(s)

Preferred:

• Current drivers’ license (if transporting clients or running errands)
• Valid vehicle insurance coverage (required if using vehicle during shifts)

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

Assist with the activities of daily living and personal care including:

• - bathing - shaving - ambulation
• - mouth care - dressing - exercising
• - hair care - feeding - toileting/incontinence care
• - nail care - positioning - medication reminding
