Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Mason Valley is seeking an ELC Youth Development Professional (Support Teacher) to assist in creating a safe, positive learning environment for children. You’ll support lesson preparation, monitor student progress, and help manage behavior under the supervision of the Early Learning Center Director.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent experience.
• CPR & First Aid certification preferred or required.
• Must be able to assist with small children and classroom equipment.

ELC Youth Development Professional (Support Teacher)

PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Child Development

DEPARTMENTS: ELC

REPORTS TO: Early Learning Center Director / Director of Operations

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

• Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards to maintain a safe and clean environment
• Assisting Teachers in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment
• Recording and reporting a Child’s progress to the Teacher
• Helping students stay focused during class hours
• Supervising group activities, sports events, and school outings
• Helping Teachers manage student behavior
• Looking after children who are unwell or upset
• Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for children

SKILLS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ability to communicate clearly with Teacher and Students
• Ability to create an encouraging learning environment for children
• Understanding and sensitivity towards children
• Excellent knowledge of lessons that children are required to learn in class.
• Ability to carry out tasks involving a computer or hand-device
• Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
• Willingness to work on different activities conducted inside or outside school premises.

CERTIFICATION/ASSOCIATION:

CPR & First Aid Certified

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEMREQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education or 2 years’ experience in relative field

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIROMENT:

M ust have the physical ability to assist with small children and classroom equipment, which may require bending and lifting. Learning Support assistants need to be certified in First Aid and CPR.
