Job summary

Harris County Juvenile Probation Department (HCJPD) is seeking an ELA/ESL Teacher to deliver TEKS-aligned instruction for students across grades, ensuring LPAC compliance and a supportive, therapeutic learning environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in English or Education, Texas Teaching certification in English and ESL, and a valid Texas driver's license. It is grant-funded with a 7:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. schedule, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in English or Education.
• Texas Teaching certification in English and ESL (SBOE).
• Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver's license and liability insurance per law.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement TEKS-aligned lesson plans with LPAC accommodations.
• Maintain accurate student grades, work, and documentation for SPED and LPAC populations.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and safety.
• Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curriculum per IEP.
