Job summary

El Pollo Loco in Los Angeles is seeking a Shift Leader to oversee team members when the General Manager or Assistant Manager is absent. You will coach, direct, recognize outstanding behavior, and set priorities for your shift.

Training on policies and food safety will be provided, ensuring compliance with standards and a superior guest experience. You will also open/close the restaurant, supporting achievement of cost and profit goals and contributing to a high-energy, customer-centric team

Qualifications

Job Summary

As a Shift Leader you will provide oversight to Team Members in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager. Coach, directs, recognizes outstanding behavior, and establishes priorities for Team Members during their shift. Trains Team Members on policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with food safety, security, quality, and cleanliness standards. Will open and/or close the restaurant. Creates and ensures superior guest experiences. Contributes to the achievement of cost and profit goals.

Job Detail

• Work Hours: Full-Time hours, plus some Overtime may be expected
• Career Advancement/Career Plan: We promote heavily from within, so from a shift Leader you can develop to become a Assistant Manager, General Manager, Area Leader and beyond!
• Work Attire: EPL logo'd shirt will be provided, black pants or jeans and nonslip shoes are required

Requirements

• Experience: Must be an EPL Crew Member certified on all EPL SPECS positions or have 1 or more years of restaurant supervisory experience.
• Education: High School diploma or equivalent (GED) is preferred. Upon hire must pass the EPL Food Safety Audit (FSA) class.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills is preferred (second language is a plus). Ability to speak efficiently with external customers is required.
• Competencies: Basic math, computer skills, and customer service skills.
• Food Handler Card: Must have a ServSafe Certificate at the time of hire or obtain a ServSafe Certificate, where applicable.
• Physical Demands: A Shift Leader regularly stands, talks, hears, uses close and distant vision, tastes, or smell, and repetitively uses their hands to reach/handle/feel/grasp objects. The position occasionally stoops/kneels/crouches/crawls and may be required to lift objects up to 40lbs.
