Job summary

Ochsner is seeking a dedicated EKG Technician to provide individualized, direct patient care through high-quality 12-Lead ECG testing. You will maintain EKG equipment, perform tests, and handle related clerical duties under leadership.

The role requires flexibility for shifts, strong communication, and adherence to privacy and safety standards. Training will emphasize accurate arrhythmia recognition and patient education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• BLS certification from American Heart Association required.
• CCT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, instruct, and educate patients on the 12-lead EKG procedure.
• Perform diagnostic 12-lead EKG tests.

This job provides individualized, direct patient care of assigned patients by performing quality 12 Lead electrocardiograph (EKG) tests. Maintains the cleanliness and maintenance of EKG equipment. Performs all clerical duties dictated by leadership.

Schedule

(2) 12-hr shifts per week: 5:15AM- 5:15PM; rotating weekends

Education

• Required - High school diploma or equivalent.

Certifications

• Required - Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Preferred - Certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT).

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.

• Working knowledge of 12 Lead EKG tests.
• Ability to recognize arrhythmias accurately.
• Ability to work well under pressure, work independently, set priorities, and maintain strict confidentiality.
