Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• At least 1 year of experience as a Monitor Tech or related field, or completion of a Basic EKG course
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• BLS certification from AHA or ARC upon hire
• Telemetry experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

1. Initiate, maintain, troubleshoot, and disconnect electrodes, leads, and transmitters; select appropriate leads; assess tracing quality.
2. Interpret EKG strips, including rate, rhythm, and intervals; document and report significant changes; ensure patient discharge from system only after data verification.
3. Maintain telemetry logs, monitor equipment, and follow infection control protocols.
4. Report abnormal and critical arrhythmias immediately; assist in documentation during resuscitations; communicate shift changes effectively.
5. Ensure continuous monitoring; never leave monitors unattended.
6. Pass the EKG exam with a score of 90% or higher.
7. Report workplace errors promptly and take accountability for actions.
8. Assist in orienting new staff and students; collaborate with hospital staff to foster a positive environment.
9. Attend scheduled meetings and educational sessions; assist others during downtime; perform additional duties as assigned.
