Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- At least 1 year of experience as a Monitor Tech or related field, or completion of a Basic EKG course
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
- BLS certification from AHA or ARC upon hire
- Telemetry experience preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate, maintain, troubleshoot, and disconnect electrodes, leads, and transmitters; select appropriate leads; assess tracing quality.
- Interpret EKG strips, including rate, rhythm, and intervals; document and report significant changes; ensure patient discharge from system only after data verification.
- Maintain telemetry logs, monitor equipment, and follow infection control protocols.
- Report abnormal and critical arrhythmias immediately; assist in documentation during resuscitations; communicate shift changes effectively.
- Ensure continuous monitoring; never leave monitors unattended.
- Pass the EKG exam with a score of 90% or higher.
- Report workplace errors promptly and take accountability for actions.
- Assist in orienting new staff and students; collaborate with hospital staff to foster a positive environment.
- Attend scheduled meetings and educational sessions; assist others during downtime; perform additional duties as assigned.
