Job summary

VanTran Transformers is seeking an EHS Material Handler to safely transport, organize, and stage materials for production in a heavy industrial setting. You will ensure accurate inventory, maintain safety and quality, and support continuous improvement in material flow.

The role requires operating forklifts and related equipment, collaborating with production and logistics, and adhering to LOTO and PPE requirements while contributing to 6S initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Industry preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment.
  • Deliver materials to production lines on schedule based on work orders.
  • Verify incoming/outgoing materials against documentation for accuracy.
  • Support inventory control by labeling, counting, and recording materials in designated systems; handle hazardous waste per regulations.
  • Track data for outgoing waste, coordinate pickup, and verify labeling on containers.
  • Assist in tracking shortages and inventory discrepancies and report to supervisor.
  • Maintain clean, organized storage areas and workspaces; follow safety guidelines and PPE protocols.
  • Assist with loading/unloading trucks and securing loads as needed.
  • Support 6S initiatives to improve material flow and workspace organization.
  • Communicate with production, supervisors, and logistics to meet material and safety equipment needs.
  • Maintain safety stations (extinguishers, eye wash, first aid) and coordinate refills.
  • Provide first aid and clean up after injuries.

Description

The EHS Material Handler is responsible for the safe transporting, organizing, and staging materials and components required for the safety of production in a heavy industrial environment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining production flow, ensuring accurate inventory, and upholding safety and quality standards.

  • Load, unload, move, and stage raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods using forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other heavy equipment.
  • Deliver materials to production lines in a timely and accurate manner based on production schedules and work orders.
  • Verify incoming and outgoing materials against documentation (packing slips, work orders, inventory lists) to ensure accuracy.
  • Support inventory control by accurately labeling, counting, and recording materials in designated systems, while handling, tracking, and properly disposing of hazardous waste in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Collect and track data for outgoing waste products, coordinate waste pickup, verify proper labeling is on every outgoing container and match it to paperwork.
  • Assist in tracking shortages, damaged items, and inventory discrepancies and report them to the supervisor or materials coordinator.
  • Maintain clean and organized storage areas, production staging zones, and warehouse spaces.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including PPE requirements, Lockout/Tagout procedures, and equipment operation standards.
  • Participate in loading and unloading trucks and securing loads as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement and 6S initiatives related to material flow and workspace organization.
  • Communicate effectively with production teams, supervisors, and logistics staff to ensure material and safety equipment needs are met proactively.
  • Maintain, clean, and inspect safety stations including but not limited to fire extinguishers, eye wash stations, and first aid kits, as well as coordinate refill of such items.
  • Provide First Aid and clean up job site after an injury, should one occur.
Requirements
Qualifications:

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be computer literate and able to easily learn ERP systems.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Industry.

Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 4 years of industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Familiarity with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS systems preferred.
  • Welding, fabrication, or PLC experience a plus.
