Job summary

Missouri Ozarks Community Action (MOCA) is seeking a Head Start classroom assistant to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth in preschoolers with a focus on school readiness.

Responsibilities include preparing the center, planning activities, supporting nutrition and health activities, documenting assessments, and coordinating with families and volunteers to enhance learning and development.

Qualifications

• AA or higher in Early childhood or comparable degree.
• Knowledge of local social service system.
• Impeccable customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills (writing, spelling, listening, speaking).
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds.
• Working knowledge of Community Action programs.
• Cooperate as a team member.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Time management techniques.
• Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
• Good judgment in policy and procedure.

Responsibilities

• Instructs children in activities to promote social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth with focus on school readiness.
• Assist in daily preparation of center prior to children’s arrival.
• Plan daily indoor and outdoor activities to stimulate growth in language, social, emotional, and motor skills.
• Provide activities to teach health and safety including personal cleanliness, brushing teeth and self-care.
• Help children develop self-help skills.
• Assist with planning weekly nutritional and health activities.
• Assist with preparation of lesson plans.
• Assist with arrangements for appropriate field trips following field trip procedures.
• Ensure screenings and follow-ups are complete and documented on enrolled children.
• Assist with establishing goals with parent input for each child and maintain development assessment documentation.
• Assist families in acquiring medical and dental services.
• Assist with parent and staff to recruit families and volunteers for Head Start.
• Maintains welcoming environment for infants and toddlers.
