Qualifications

• Must have Infant-Toddler CDA or equivalent and enroll in Infant-Toddler CDA program; AA/BA is a plus.
• Must meet NJ/PA licensing standards for Head Start centers.
• Must have a car available on a daily basis.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for preschoolers per Head Start and licensing standards; submit weekly lesson plans.
• Provide infant-toddler caregiving routines in a primary caregiving setting.
• Observe, assess, and document each child’s growth; maintain individual records.
• Support services for children with special needs in the center.
• Ensure safety procedures; report accidents, abuse, or health concerns.
• Prepare records and monthly reports for the Parent Center Committee.
• Plan parent-involved activities and monthly planning with the Parent Committee.
• Conduct home visits at least twice per program year and two parent/teacher conferences.
• Attend training sessions and workshops; assist in administrative duties as needed.
• Carry out other Head Start tasks as delegated by management.

JOB FUNCTION

Responsible for the supervision and coordination of assigned classroom; ensuring that it meets with Head Start performance Standards and state (NJ/PA) licensing regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Plan and implement activities in an individual and developmentally appropriate manner for pre‑school children in keeping with the philosophy and Performance Standards of Head Start and the licensing requirements of New Jersey. Submit to the Child/Family Site Director and the Education Manager/Coordinator a curriculum‑based lesson plan for the classroom each week.
2. Provide infant‑toddler specific caregiving routines in a primary caregiving setting that focus on all aspects of the child’s development.
3. Observe, assess, screen, and document each child’s growth and development in your class. Plan activities to meet the needs of individual children. Maintain accurate records in an individual folder and database for each child.
4. Ensure that the process of providing service to children with special needs in the center is implemented.
5. Ensure the safety of all children by participating in monitoring of center, implementation of child safety procedures, reporting accidents, reporting child abuse or neglect, and reporting any child health/safety concern to supervisor.
6. Prepare and maintain appropriate records and reports. This may include maintaining classroom sign‑in/out sheet and prepare a monthly report as requested by the Parent Center Committee.
7. Plan activities involving parents in the classroom and include activities which can be implemented in the home. Involve the Parent Committee or individual parents in educational planning sessions at least once a month.
8. Visit the home of each child at least two (2) times within the program year. Prepare and conduct two (2) parent/teacher conferences within the program year.
9. Attend training sessions and workshops provided by the program.
10. Assist in carrying out administrative duties as delegated by Head Teacher, Child/Family Site Director or Education Manager/Coordinator. This may include individual conferences on each staff member that interacts with the classroom or providing on‑site training to center staff members as requested by Supervisors/Coordinators.
11. Any other Head Start task as delegated by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Must have an Infant‑Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) OR have equivalent and enroll in Infant‑Toddler CDA program. AA and BA a plus.
2. Must meet or exceed the qualification requirements set forth in NJ and PA licensing standards.
3. Must have car available on a daily basis.
