Job summary

ERM is seeking motivated EHS Specialists (Startup and Validation) to join our team, providing onsite support for a leading pharmaceutical client’s new API facility in Lebanon, IN. This is a full-time, 12-month limited-term role starting March 2026 with 40 hours per week on site.

You will lead day-to-day EHS oversight during system startup and validation activities, review JHAs and work permits, and participate in PSERs, PFTSRs, and PSSRs, while driving safety improvements with the project team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry certification is required.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• Experience in construction, commissioning, or manufacturing environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field observations to ensure compliance with safety procedures and hazard controls.
• Support implementation and review of LOTO procedures and perform spot checks.
• Participate in PSERs, PFTSRs, and PSSRs as part of startup safety.

• Attend safety meetings to represent EHS in planning activities.
• Monitor safety performance and document observations.
• Assist with incident reporting and CAPA.
• Maintain accurate records of EHS inspections and permits.

This role offers an opportunity to work hands-on in a fast-paced operational readiness environment, supporting health, safety, and environmental compliance during startup and equipment validation activities. This is a full-time (40 hours per week) limited-term role, with a duration of 12 months. Project start anticipated in March 2026.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day EHS oversight during system startup and validation activities.
• Conduct field observations to ensure compliance with safety procedures and hazard controls.
• Support implementation and review of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and perform spot checks.
• Participate in Pre-Startup Environmental Reviews (PSERs), Pre-Functional Testing Safety Reviews (PFTSRs), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs).
• Review and support approval of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and work permits.
• Attend daily coordination and safety meetings to represent EHS in work planning.
• Monitor contractor and employee safety performance and document observations.
• Support incident reporting and assist with corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain accurate records of EHS inspections, permits, and safety documentation.
• Collaborate with EHS Managers and Team Leaders to drive continuous improvement in safety culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Science, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Minimum 2–5 years of relevant EHS experience in construction, commissioning, or manufacturing environments.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction or General Industry certification required.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification required.
• Working familiarity with LOTO programs, permit systems, and hazard assessment processes.
• Strong observation and communication skills; ability to work proactively in the field environment.
• Full-time on-site role; flexibility for extended or weekend hours as startup activities ramp up.
