HP Hood LLC in Portland, ME seeks an on-site Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to support operations with a strong focus on health and safety. The role emphasizes implementing EHS programs, regulatory compliance, and hands-on guidance to facility managers while promoting a safety-first culture across the site.

The ideal candidate will have a BA/BS in EHS and 3–5 years of related experience, plus proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of relevant regulations.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Environmental Health and Safety or related discipline required.
• 3–5 years of related experience in EHS.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations.
• Experience in manufacturing, preferably food & beverage.

Responsibilities

• Implement EHS programs and policies aligned with federal and state requirements.
• Design and deliver safety training and conduct workplace safety inspections.
• Administer programs: hearing conservation, hazard communication, industrial hygiene, contractor safety.
• Provide guidance to facility managers on incident reporting and investigations.
• Drive the annual Safety Improvement Plan with leadership.
• Support workers’ compensation processes and interface with medical professionals.
• Lead Safety Committee and task teams.
• Create documents and visual aids to support safety communications.
