Job description

Senior Ergonomist


Location: Hybrid, West Point, PA
Schedule: Up to 30 hours/week | No Overtime
Duration: June – October 2025


Education & Certification Requirements:


Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field
Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE) required
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) – Preferred
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) – Preferred



Required Experience & Skills

  • Must be a Certified Professional Ergonomist or work under direct oversight of a CPE
  • Strong proficiency in conducting Ergonomic Risk Assessments (ERAs) using VelocityEHS Industrial Ergonomic Software
  • Capable of developing and delivering:
  • Ergonomic Risk Mapping (ERM)
  • Physical Demands Analyses (PDAs)
  • Functional Job Descriptions (FJDs)
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and document ergonomic risks using digital video, photography, weights, measurements, and employee/supervisor input
  • Ability to recommend effective engineering, administrative, and behavioral controls to reduce ergonomic risk and improve productivity
  • Experience with creating highly visual documentation showing risk scenarios and proposed abatement strategies


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ergonomic evaluations across various work environments (lab, warehouse, production areas)
  • Perform on-site assessments; document findings and recommendations in formal reports
  • Provide detailed FJDs and PDAs to be integrated into HR job profiles
  • Develop color-coded ergonomic risk maps to help stakeholders visualize areas of concern
  • Collaborate with internal teams across facilities, operations, and maintenance
  • Ensure use of proper PPE where required (e.g., GMP clothing, safety glasses, lab coat, safety shoes)
