EHS Project Support Specialist I (Entry Level) – Position Summary

The EHS Project Support Specialist I is an entry-level field safety role responsible for supporting daily Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) operations through direct engagement with crews, hazard identification, and compliance verification.

This role focuses on building foundational EHS competency through participation in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Hazard Mitigation, Incident Investigations, Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), toolbox talks, and routine safety inspections.

Key Responsibilities – Specialist I
  • Serve as the front-line Safety leader for field operations.
  • Support on-site safety oversight and perform routine daily inspections to identify hazards, reduce risk, and enforce compliance.
  • Participate in the creation, implementation and increase employee understanding of the purpose and use of JHAs, PTPs, and Toolbox Talks
  • Accurately document and record field safety evolutions and input results into the EHS data management system.
  • Monitor operational field activities to verify that safe work practices are continuously followed.
  • Immediately address and correct EHS deficiencies in the field.
  • Communicate identified and potential risks to supervision for operational consideration.
  • Support incident response, investigation, and reporting activities.
  • Assist operation with verification and compliance of the General Contractor and/or client EHS requirements.
  • Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or behaviors are observed.
  • Participate in coordination meetings where safety alignment is needed.
  • Develop, implement, and support rollout of EHS processes, updates, and training as needed.
  • Actively participate as a leader in Safety Culture. Promoting a zero-incident culture and proactive EHS reporting. Recognize the safe work practices and behaviors of the operational staff.
  • Must be able to work as Collaborator and independently.
  • Actively engage in training and development within the scope of EHS.
Qualifications – Specialist I

High school diploma or equivalent required.

0–2 years of related experience preferred.

Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.

Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse occupational populations.

Physically capable of working in active construction environments.
