Job summary

Marvin is seeking a Safety & Health Specialist to support and execute the Safety & Health program at a Marvin facility. The role focuses on ensuring a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment and reports through the Operations structure at the designated site.

You will lead safety education, audits, and health screenings, collaborate with Operations, and drive continuous improvement through engineering and administrative controls, with regular travel under 10%.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Certifications or ability to obtain within 1 year: NSC Advanced Safety Certificate, OSHA 30 Hour, OHST.
  • Ability to gain certification to be considered an authorized person for OSHA service, maintenance, and inspection requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and conduct Safety & Health education, training, and orientations.
  • Develop safety reports from systems like Origami and Safety Culture.
  • Maintain Safety & Health compliance files and records.
  • Coordinate activities to promote injury prevention and a strong safety culture.
  • Support audits, test safety equipment, and implement control measures.

Job Overview

The Safety & Health Specialist is an individual contributor role that is responsible for supporting and executing the Safety & Health program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment that meets OSHA and best practice standards. These duties will be carried out at a specified Marvin facility, with the role reporting up through the Operations structure at the designated location.

Highlights of your role
  • Prepare and conduct Safety & Health related education, communication, and training to include new employee orientation, safety committee meetings, and safety alerts
  • Develop and share Safety & Health related reports driving out of systems such as Origami, Safety Culture and others
  • Gain subject matter expertise for federal, state, and Marvin enterprise safety & health compliance, including maintenance of applicable files, documents, and records
  • Coordinate Safety & Health activities at a manufacturing site to comply with all applicable regulations and company processes and procedures to promote a best-in-class safety culture predicated on injury prevention
  • Champion all Safety & Health activities within the facility by working closely with employees and management to recognize, generate and implement ideas to continually improve safety
  • Maintain local Safety & Health policies and procedures within a facility, which will adhere to no less than Enterprise-level material
  • Maintain employee records documenting certifications or licenses obtained, completion of training, and other employee records as it relates to Safety & Health
  • Drive and maintain facility readiness for internal and external audits
  • Conduct self-assessment Safety & Health audits, including documenting findings, producing reports, and sharing with applicable leadership
  • Test and service safety equipment and systems
  • Support the use of the control hierarchy, such as implementation of engineering and administrative controls to abate or minimize safety hazards
  • Coordinate applicable health screenings and ensure completion for designated facility needs (hearing, hazmat physical, respiratory fit testing, etc.)
You're a good fit if you have (or if you can)
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with Operations and be able to balance safety with business needs
  • Excellent communication and computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Aptitude for technology
  • Ability to work effectively with management as well as with associates from the floor
  • Willingness to grow within the Health & Safety space, including seeking additional training and certifications
  • Ability to travel (<10% per year)
  • Willingness to work occasionally outside of core hours
  • Ability to frequently stand and walk around facility
Also want to make sure you have
  • Associates degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Demonstrated engagement in safety activities preferred (e.g., safety committee member, first responder, etc.)
  • Currently hold one or more of the following certifications, or ability to obtain within 1 year of employment if not in possession of at the time of hire:
    • NSC Advanced Safety Certificate
    • OSHA 30 Hour, and/or
    • Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician Certification (OHST)
  • Ability to gain certification to be considered an authorized person for specific OSHA service, maintenance, and inspection requirements
