Accuray in Deming, NM is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety professional to develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs. You will ensure regulatory compliance, lead safety initiatives, and support radiation safety activities across the site.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Programs & Procedures

Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs, policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure regulatory compliance and effective risk management. Monitor the effectiveness of EHS programs and recommend improvements based on regulatory changes, audit findings, incident investigations, and operational needs.

Safety Culture & Employee Engagement

Promote a positive safety culture by engaging employees and leaders in EHS initiatives, encouraging participation, and reinforcing accountability for safe work practices. Partner with site leadership to establish safety objectives and support achievement of EHS performance goals.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Analysis

Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, risk assessments, and Job Hazard Analyses to identify hazards and opportunities for risk reduction. Develop, track, and verify completion of corrective and preventive actions resulting from inspections, audits, incident investigations, and regulatory findings.

Training & Competency

Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs to ensure employees, contractors, and visitors understand applicable safety requirements and safe work practices. Maintain training records and monitor compliance with required training and certifications.

Incident Management

Investigate workplace incidents, injuries, near misses, and hazardous conditions; determine root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Compliance & Technical Support

Provide technical EHS guidance to employees, leaders, contractors, and consultants and support regulatory inspections and audits. Maintain awareness of applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations and ensure site compliance.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting

Analyze EHS performance metrics, incident trends, training compliance, and audit findings to identify improvement opportunities and report progress to management.

Occupational Health

Coordinate occupational health programs, medical surveillance requirements, and health-related compliance activities with external providers.

Emergency Preparedness

Maintain emergency response plans and participate in emergency preparedness activities, drills, and response team functions.

Radiation Safety Support

Partner with Global EHS leadership and external consultants to support radiation safety programs, training, audits, and regulatory compliance activities.

PPE & Safety Equipment

Manage personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety supply programs to ensure availability, proper selection, and effective use.

Authority & Accountability

Exercise stop-work authority when unsafe conditions or activities present a risk to personnel, property, or the environment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Natural Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent years of experience in lieu of Degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working in an EHS capacity.
  • Demonstrated current knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA).
  • Familiarity with radiation safety requirements.
  • OSHA Certification, preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively influence, drive change, and build partnerships across all levels of the organization without direct authority.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing business needs, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and culturally diverse environment.
  • Self-motivated and highly organized professional with strong administrative, documentation, and project management skills, capable of working independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to balance competing demands while delivering high-quality results.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and frequently walk, climb ladders, kneel, crouch, and crawl during course of duties.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time.
  • To qualify for this position, candidates must be able to furnish proof that they are authorized to work in the country they are applying on a permanent basis without sponsorship.
