Job summary

A healthcare and safety services company in Cottage Grove is looking for an EHS professional to support laboratory operations. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety and at least 1 year of relevant experience. Responsibilities include conducting safety surveys, incident documentation, and assisting with hazardous waste disposal. The position offers a competitive hourly rate between $22 and $28, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of EHS and/or Chemistry experience.
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities and develop plans.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 30 and/or Hazwoper 40 is preferred.

Join us as a an EHS professional, where you'll put your love of science to work in the Scientific Insourcing Services department.. You'll receive all the training you need to successfully take on your new role and grow an exciting laboratory sciences career at Pace.

Candidate will be part of a team that provides Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) support to laboratory R&D operations.

Compensation: $22.00 - 28.00 per hour

What you'll do

  • Monthly safety surveys (presenting monthly safety focus, enter safety surveys into database, track survey data, and make sure findings are closed out in a timely manner)
  • Initiate, follow up, and complete incident documentation of all incidents/injuries within a timely manner; complete WIMS investigations, identify root cause(s), and document measures taken to prevent reoccurrence; provide updates to management regarding causal analysis and corrective actions
  • Actively problem solve and troubleshoot waste logistics
  • Verify Waste Stream Profiles & Waste Inventory are active and accurate
  • Ensure waste labels are correct and accurate
  • Understand and implement waste storage and handling procedures
  • Assist in the disposal of hazardous waste and materials as part of laboratory clean outs
  • Hazard Review documentation (including pre- and post- work) and identify processes within a division/area that will need a Hazard Review
  • Participate in monthly Tech Forum Lab Safety meetings; communicate EHS updates to committees as needed
  • Provide respirator fit tests
  • Machine guarding assessments
  • Lab commissioning support (to include lab EHS readiness, equipment start up, pre-start up safety reviews, technical support for lab moves, and lab exiting for vacated areas)
  • Maintain active communication with various customer personnel

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry, Biology, or related field
  • EHS (Environmental health and safety) and/or Chemistry experience, 1+ year
  • OSHA 30 and/or Hazwoper 40, preferred
  • Ability to identify improvement opportunities, develop plans to close gaps, garner management support for key initiatives, and track improvement initiatives to closure
  • Risk analysis skills - capable of hazard and risk identification, assessment, and controls; communicate risks and methods to reduce risk
  • Abilityto adapt to changing circumstances and prioritize work effectively
