EHS Specialist

The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist's main responsibility is to ensure that daily environmental and safety activities are carried out according to the site Environmental Health and Safety Plan. This position also involves coordinating all aspects of safety and environmental compliance, including company training programs.

Today, Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for aerospace, defense, and industrial markets, specializing in electronic and structural systems for various high-tech applications.

Essential Functions
EH&S Facilitation, Administration, and Site Management
  • Support and guide local performance centers.
  • Lead monthly facility safety committee meetings.
  • Assist in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Manage documentation related to injuries, near misses, and incidents.
  • Ensure environmental compliance through proper waste disposal, reports, and communication with agencies.
  • Develop and maintain safety programs through goal deployment.
  • Maintain environmental logs for VOCs and paint usage for reporting.
  • Analyze EHS data for validity and quality.
  • Collect environmental samples as required.
  • Coordinate with environmental and safety agencies, including EPA, OSHA, and local authorities.
Training, Inspections, and Auditing
  • Coordinate safety training for all employees.
  • Provide EHS training and orientation for new hires.
  • Ensure safety inspections are completed and corrective actions are tracked.
  • Maintain records of safety events and conduct safety surveys and meetings.
  • Train managers and supervisors on GENSUITE software.
Metrics and Performance Management
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety metrics such as incident rates and OSHA recordables.
  • Ensure successful regulatory audits and timely closure of action items.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and EHS management software (e.g., Gensuite).
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Effective under pressure and team-oriented.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative.
Required Experience and Education
  • Bachelor's degree in an EHS-related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in environmental and safety roles within manufacturing.
