Job summary

Orano Med is seeking an EHS Specialist to safeguard radiopharmaceutical operations in a GMP setting. You will implement and monitor safety programs, train staff, and ensure compliance with NRC, FDA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and state rules.

The role emphasizes proactive risk assessment, incident investigation, and collaboration with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to uphold ALARA principles and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma with radiopharmaceutical operations experience; AU or RSO training is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field with relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, radiopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical preferred.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training for radiopharmaceutical production.
  • Monitor radiation safety programs, including dosimetry, contamination surveys, and waste management.
  • Support Radiation Safety Officer activities and ensure RAM license compliance.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and corrective actions.
  • Oversee handling, storage, transport, and disposal of radioactive and hazardous materials per NRC/DOT/EPA.
  • Investigate EHS incidents and lead root-cause analyses.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to maintain FDA cGMP and ALARA principles.
  • Maintain regulatory records and prepare agency reports.

With a solid portfolio of development projects covering a diverse range of biological molecules capable of recognizing and targeting various forms of cancerous tumors, and a reliable supply chain for Pb‑212, Orano Med aims to become a leader in targeted alpha therapies, in particular addressing needs of patients currently without effective therapeutic solutions among the existing approaches.

Position Summary

The EHS Specialist will be responsible for supporting safe, compliant, and efficient radiopharmaceutical manufacturing operations by implementing, monitoring, and improving Environmental Health & Safety programs. This role ensures compliance with NRC, FDA, DOT, OSHA, EPA, and state regulations, while fostering a strong safety culture in a highly regulated GMP environment. Shift will be Monday through Friday 9am-5pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and training tailored to radiopharmaceutical production.
  • Monitor radiation safety programs, including dosimetry, contamination surveys, exposure tracking, and waste management.
  • Support Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) activities and assist with maintaining compliance with RAM license conditions.
  • Conduct safety inspections, risk assessments, and job hazard analyses; recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Oversee proper handling, storage, transport, and disposal of radioactive and hazardous materials in accordance with NRC, DOT, and EPA requirements.
  • Investigate EHS incidents, near misses, and deviations, document findings and lead root cause analysis.
  • Partner with Quality, Operations, and Engineering to ensure compliance with FDA cGMP and ALARA principles.
  • Maintain records and prepare reports for regulatory agencies (NRC, OSHA, EPA, state regulators).

Provide EHS training and mentorship to manufacturing staff to promote a culture of continuous safety improvement.

Education
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with 2+ years of experience in radiopharmaceutical operations; AU or RSO training preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science or related field, with at least 1 year of relevant industry experience.
Experience
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced manufacturing setting (radiopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical preferred).
