Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, occupational safety and health, engineering, a life science discipline, or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting EHS programs in a manufacturing, industrial, or consulting setting, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and education.
• Broad working knowledge across OSHA general industry standards and key EPA regulations (RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA).
• Experience researching regulatory requirements and writing compliance programs and procedures.
• Experience participating in audits, inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
• Experience in the life science industry (pharmaceutical, biotechnology, cell & gene therapy, or medical device), including cGMP manufacturing environments, is preferred.
• Experience developing and delivering training is preferred.
• Consulting, client-facing, and/or multi-site EHS experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess EHS compliance, audits, and site walkthroughs to evaluate programs against federal, state, and local requirements and best practices.
• Identify compliance gaps and develop prioritized, risk-based recommendations and action plans for client stakeholders.
• Assist in reviewing planned facility changes for impacts to environmental permits, registrations, and safety programs.
• Draft written safety and environmental programs and procedures tailored to each client’s operations.
• Help clients roll out new or revised programs with communication plans and defined roles.
• Support ongoing management of EHS programs, including inspections, recordkeeping, and corrective actions.
• Develop training materials and deliver EHS training to client staff; assist in incident investigations.

Summary:

This position is responsible for supporting clients as they develop, implement, and manage Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) programs in the life science and related industries. Working as part of a Catalyze team, this role will support the assessment of client’s current EHS regulatory compliance; help develop practical programs, procedures, and training; assist clients in putting those programs into practice at their facilities; and support the ongoing management and execution of their compliance tasks. This is a generalist position spanning occupational safety and environmental compliance. With 3–5 years of hands‑on EHS experience, this role will work closely with experienced subject matter experts who provide technical guidance, review, and mentoring, with the opportunity to broaden your skills across multiple clients and facility types. Experience in the life science industry is preferred.

Job Functions, Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Assessment and Gap Analysis:

• Support EHS compliance assessments, audits, and site walkthroughs at client facilities to evaluate current programs against federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., OSHA, EPA, and state authorities) and industry best practices.
• Conduct job hazard analyses and assist with hazard evaluations and risk assessments of facilities, equipment, and manufacturing operations.
• Help identify compliance gaps and develop prioritized, risk-based recommendations and action plans for client stakeholders.
• Assist in reviewing planned facility and operational changes, such as new equipment, processes, or expansions, for impacts to environmental permits, registrations, and safety programs.

Program Development:

• Draft written safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to each client’s operations, such as lockout/tagout, electrical safety, fall protection, confined space, hazard communication, PPE, contractor safety, and emergency response.
• Draft environmental compliance programs, such as hazardous and universal waste management (RCRA), air emissions monitoring and recordkeeping, stormwater, spill response, and EPCRA/Tier II reporting.
• Help address life science‑specific considerations, such as hazardous materials management and biosafety in cGMP manufacturing environments.
• Create forms, checklists, inspection templates, logs, and other tools that make programs easy for client teams to maintain.

Implementation and Program Management Support:

• Help clients roll out new or revised programs, including communication plans, defined roles and responsibilities, and implementation schedules.
• Support clients in the ongoing management and execution of their EHS programs, including inspections, recordkeeping, compliance tracking, and continuous improvement.
• Help develop training materials and deliver EHS training to client staff.
• Support incident investigations and root cause analyses, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
• Help clients prepare for regulatory agency inspections and third‑party audits.

Regulatory Support and Documentation:

• Research EHS regulations and help explain requirements to client personnel in clear, practical terms.
• Prepare regulatory documentation, reports, and submittals (e.g., OSHA recordkeeping, waste reporting, permit applications and renewals) for client review and signature.

Collaboration, Client Service, and Professional Development:

• Work as part of a Catalyze project team alongside experienced EHS subject matter experts, who provide technical guidance, review of deliverables, and mentoring.
• Communicate progress, findings, and recommendations through clear written deliverables and presentations.
• Manage assigned tasks across multiple clients, delivering high‑quality work on schedule and within agreed scope and budget.
• Contribute to Catalyze’s EHS service offering by developing reusable templates and tools, sharing lessons learned, and supporting proposals as needed.
• Continue building EHS technical knowledge and stay current on regulatory changes and industry trends relevant to our clients.
