Job summary

Peco Foods, Inc. is seeking a Safety Technician for our Bay Springs, MS facility. The role supports the EHS program by promoting a safe work environment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and assisting with injury prevention and incident management.

Key duties include administering first aid, conducting drug screenings, coordinating safety training (LOTO, PIT, Hot Work), and maintaining OSHA records. The position requires 3+ years in EHS within poultry operations and a current driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum of three years EHS experience in a poultry facility.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and general safety practices.
• First Aid/CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Administer basic first aid and coordinate transportation for injured staff.
• Conduct safety training including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Powered Industrial Truck (PIT), Hot Work, and other required programs.
• Investigate workplace incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Maintain OSHA injury and illness records (300/300A logs) and assist with annual reporting requirements.
• Calibrate, maintain, and utilize safety monitoring equipment (PAA, multi-gas meters).
• Support facility compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
• Promote a culture of zero injuries and oversee Safety Committee activities.
